Lust, Lost, Love

Poster / Motion / Illustration

What do you think of when you see the work of Nobuyoshi Araki?

Sex and desire are indeed prominent aspects of his photography, as they are often central to his subject matter. Araki's work can evoke a strong sense of sensuality and longing.

Beyond this, further exploration of his portfolio reveals deeper layers of emotion, including love and life. Desire, in Araki's perspective, becomes a powerful expression of life itself. It's through desire that one can truly feel alive.

Araki's work also bears a touch of sadness, particularly in the photographs created after his wife's passing. These images carry a profound personal and emotional weight.

I aim to visualize these emotions through a combination of illustration and typography. Integrating Japanese elements into the project adds a connection to Eastern culture, enriching the depth and context of the emotions conveyed in Araki's work.
